The Final Challenge (a working title)

It is hard now – to think back to the beginning – the beginning that lead to the end.

Marisha thought as she walked slowly down the wet pavement, the rain had stopped and the air had that clean and washed feel to it. It was time for a decision on the destiny issues; that she thought on as she listened to the clicking of her heels on the wet pavement.

She had promised a decision on this massive issue by dawn, and the sun was about to rise over the dew rich buildings in front of her. Her entire past was marshaled to help in this difficult process. This was not a life and death issue yet, but on the way to becoming one. Not her death, but possibly thousands of others.

Marisha made a military style turn on the sole of her right foot – thinking that she was being followed. She had taken all precautions to isolate from the people that did not see eye to eye on the path that she was to follow. She lifted her head looking beyond the wide brim of her black hat. It seems that some thing or some one dodged into the shadows about a hundred yards – behind.

She had left her back-up – back in the hotel, and decided, now, to move along the shadowed façade of the buildings that marched arm and arm down the road. She wanted to be back in the safety of familiar territory before the sun rose – killing all the shadowy shelters.
